Shenmue and its sequel are a critical part of the history of game development, and while it`s not certain if their re-release will sell anyone on Shenmue 3, it`s a useful refresher course for something that people haven`t been able to play on modern consoles for quite some time. If nothing else, the simple reality that Shenmue is again a living franchise is, all by itself, something truly amazing.
